Clarkston Everest Collegiate players and coaches pose with their MHSAA district championship trophy on Thursday.

   Division 4 No. 5-ranked Clarkston Everest Collegiate edged No. 4-ranked Royal Oak Shrine Catholic 3-2 to earn the Michigan High School Athletic Association District 58 boys soccer championship on Thursday, Oct. 21, at Shrine.

   It was Everest’s third-straight boys soccer district championship.

   Lucas Cross scored two goals for the Mountaineers and Tito Fortuny got the eventual game-winner.

   Everest beat Birmingham Roeper 5-0 and Shrine beat Rochester Hills

 

Lutheran Northwest 6-0 in district semifinals on Monday, Oct. 18.

   Everest advances to the MHSAA Region 15 tournament at Auburn Hills Oakland Christian. Everest will face the District 59 winner on Tuesday, Oct. 26. Bryon and No. 11-ranked Lansing Christian play for that title on Friday, Oct. 22.

   On the other side of the regional District 60 winner No. 10-ranked Bad Axe will face the District 57 winner No. 12-ranked Madison Heights Bishop Foley on Tuesday, Oct. 26.

   Bad Axe beat Midland Calvary Baptist 4-0 and Bishop Foley beat Chesterfield Austin Catholic 7-0 for district championships on Thursday, Oct. 21.
